Unlike mainstream tampons, pads and liners which absorb menstrual fluid, a period cup (or menstrual cup) collects it. Our super soft nüdie period cup is easy to insert and can collect menstrual fluid for up to 12 hours (making it a great option for heavy periods), allowing you to go about your day without frequent period product changes. The nüdie period cup is available in three different sizes depending on the size of your cervix.

Made from medical-grade silicone with a silky smooth finish for extra comfort, the nüdie features an easy-to-hold Pebble™ pull for hassle-free removal and Tri-Flow™ air release holes to help with suction, keeping the cup securely in place so you can feel fresh and protected, day or night.

The nüdie period cup is made from hypoallergenic medical-grade silicone for ultimate flexibility. It is manufactured in completely sterile conditions using clean-room technology and arrives in a protective bio-wrap bag thus to further protect it before use.

Not all cups are made equal and this is something we discovered when we began the journey at &SISTERS. After trying almost every cup on the market, we realised that one of the main issues we had when using a cup was finding one that fit and was comfortable to use. Our cups are super soft yet robust, ensuring comfort and leak-free protection with the large cup being slightly more rigid to allow for easy release once inserted (ideal for those with weaker pelvic floor muscles post pregnancy). Stay away from hard, plastic cups if you can! 

Yes the nüdie period cup is hypoallergenic and gynaecologically approved to be perfect for sensitive skin.

The absorption capacity of a tampon is measured in grams (g), while the capacity of the period cup is measured in millilitres (ml). One g is equal to one ml. Depending upon the size you choose (Teen, Size A or Size B), the nüdie period cup has a capacity of 18–32 ml. That’s up to three times more than the tampon, which can absorb 6-18 g of menstrual blood.

You can wear your nüdie for up to 12 hours.

You can go to the toilet as you normally would while wearing your nüdie. After a bowel movement, you might want to check that the cup is still sitting properly. Take extra care to wash your hands thoroughly.

Absolutely! Period cups are ideal for night, as they can be kept in for up to 12 hours. If you have a very heavy flow, you may want to use one of our organic cotton night-time pads for extra protection whilst you sleep.

The nüdie period cup is perfect for playing sports or undertaking fitness activities. The absence of a string is an added bonus for swimming on your period. Using the nüdie whilst travelling is also ideal – it holds three times more blood than a tampon or pad, meaning less toilet stops along the way. Best of all, period cups are completely reusable, so you won’t ever run out or worry about disposing of used disposable period products.

Yes, you can use a period cup if you have an IUD/IUS, a contraceptive ring, or any other form of birth control. However we always advise consulting with your doctor before hand as there are other consideration factors like cervix height, and how long your IUD has been inserted for. Please note that the nüdie is completely hormone-free and therefore does not provide contraceptive protection.

The nüdie is available in 3 sizes: Teen, Size A (Medium) and Size B (Large).

The Small/Teen is ideal for users under the age of 18. The diameter of the small is 38mm, the overall length including the pebble is 56mm and the overall capacity is 18ml.

Size A is designed for users aged 18 to 30 who have not given birth vaginally. The diameter is 42mm, the overall length including the pebble is 61mm and the overall capacity is with a 24ml. If you are over 30 with a highly active lifestyle with strong pelvic floor muscles, this could be the best fit for you.

Size B is perfect if you have given birth or are over 30 years old. The diameter is 46mm, the overall length including the pebble is 66mm and the overall capacity is 32ml.

We try to make sizing as straightforward as possible. However, if you run into any difficulties with your purchased size we are more than happy to exchange it for an alternate size.

Checking the height of your cervix is important in choosing the right period cup. It can also help you to monitor your ovulation, fertility and sexual health. You should aim to check it several times a week over a month to get a good idea of the general height of your cervix. Your cervix does tend to change position during your cycle. When you are ovulating your cervix will be higher than normal and when you are menstruating your cervix will be lower than normal. If you haven’t done this before we recommend doing this during a shower or a bath so you are clean and relaxed. Insert your index finger into your vagina in an upwards direction towards your cervix which should feel similar to the tip of your nose. Note the position to which your finger is able to reach and use the knuckle rule to determine your overall cervical position. A low cervix will measure up to the first finger joint. A medium cervix will measure up to the middle joint, roughly halfway up your finger and a high cervix will allow you to insert your finger all the way in before you reach your cervix. If you have done this successfully, congratulations you now know the height of your cervix!

It depends how low your cervix is. If it’s really low and you can’t even reach your first finger joint then possibly not. This is fairly unusual and there are cups on the market that are better suited for you than the nüdie. In most other instances, if you have a low to medium height cervix, you could drop a size, and go for our ‘Small’ and ‘Medium’ sizes, rather than the ‘Large’ which are appropriate for people with cervixes of all heights. If you are over 30 and have a low cervix we would encourage you to opt for our medium cup as. Don’t worry if you have a heavy flow, it simply means you may have to change once or twice more than you might otherwise, but we think that comfort is key!

There are two types of folds &SISTERS recommend: the 'U/C' shape and the 'punchdown' fold. Begin by creating a ‘U’ shape with your nüdie opening – press and hold the sides of your nüdie together, then fold it in half to create a ‘U’. Find a comfortable position and relax your pelvic floor muscles, then gently push the nüdie into the vagina with the tip approximately 1 cm into the vagina. The nüdie will now pop open inside your vagina and create a seal. For those with slightly tighter vaginal walls, we'd suggest the punch down fold as it opens more easily when inside. On one side of the cup push down with your index finger until the wall of the cup touches the base of the cup (see diagram). Then insert as above. If you’re having difficulty inserting your nüdie, try wetting your cup with room temperature water, or using a bit of organic lubricant.

The key point to removing the cup is to break the suction effect that enables the cup to stay secure and collecting the blood in your vagina. There are two ways of doing this. The first is to squeeze the bottom of the cup to release the suction effect through the three tiny holes at the top and the second is to put your finger right into your vagina and realise the suction at the rim of the cup, right at the top. Once the suction is released between the nüdie cup and the walls of the vagina, the cup will be easy to remove. Gently hold the base of the cup (not just the stem/ Pebble pull, this is there as a guide) and, keeping the cup horizontal to avoid any spillage, remove from your vagina.

Your nüdie may be leaking for a number of reasons. Most likely it’s because you didn’t insert it quite right, and the cup wasn’t able to fully open and a suction formed. The suction is how the cup prevents leaks, so use your finger to check if it is fully unfolded. If you can feel the cup moving around, you likely need a larger size. If you find that the ‘Large’ size leaks, then pelvic floor exercises can help strengthen the surrounding pelvic floor muscles. Other possibilities are that you’re using the wrong sized cup (too large or too small), or have an unusually positioned cervix. (see FAQ on cervix heights) Alternatively of course you may just have an exceptionally heavy flow day and left your nüdie in for too long!

Don’t worry! It is impossible for the nüdie to become stuck or ‘lost’ in your body. Removing your period cup can be tricky at first, but we promise it will become second nature after a few attempts. The key point to removing the cup is to break the suction effect that enables the cup to stay secure and collecting the blood in your vagina. There are two ways of doing this. The first is to squeeze the bottom of the cup (pinch the bottom with your forefinger and thumb) to release the suction effect through the three tiny holes at the top. The second method is to put your finger right into your vagina and release the suction at the rim of the cup, right at the top. Do be careful if you have long fingernails. Once the suction is released between the nüdie cup and the walls of the vagina, the cup should be easy to remove. Gently hold the base of the cup (not just the stem/ Pebble pull, this is there as a guide) and, keeping the cup horizontal to avoid any spillage, remove gently from your vagina.

It is very important to keep your nüdie period cup clean. Before using it for the first time and at the end of every period, sterilise your cup by fully submerging it in boiling water for 5 minutes or soaking in sterilising solution. Soak for the minimum sterilsation time only (usually around 15 minutes). The three tiny Tri-flow™ holes below the rim of your nüdie period cup help to release the seal so make sure you keep these clear too- dental brushes work well!

Your nüdie period cup will come with a little organic cotton bag, perfect for storage in between cycles.

Your nüdie period cup may become a little stained after a number of uses. This is simply a result of the hormones and the chemical balance of each woman’s vaginal fluids. Don’t worry if your cup becomes a little discoloured, its effectiveness will not be compromised. 

To help remove the stains, we suggest soaking in a diluted vinegar solution – but please do take care to remove all traces of the vinegar, using your preferred sanitisation method, before re-using your cup. We do not recommend removing the stains on your cup more often than on a quarterly basis, as this can affect the quality of the silicone over time

If you are in a public toilet take a small bottle of water in with you to rinse your nüdie period cup, or simply empty and reinsert. Ensure you wash your nüdie period cup more thoroughly at the next convenient time. When travelling overseas always use drinking water to clean your nüdie period cup.

Depending on how well you take care of it, each nüdie period cup is made to last for up to 10 years. Some users prefer to change theirs more regularly, if discolouration becomes bothersome. If you notice any tears, splits or any other changes in the appearance or texture of your nudie cup we recommend that you replace it immediately.

While the nüdie cup can’t be recycled through domestic recycling facilities, it can be recycled through industrial facilities. If your nüdie is at the end of its 10-year lifespan or you just don’t need or want it anymore, then please do return it to us and we’ll ensure it’s safely recycled.
